NEWS: Alan Summers QC - New Treasurer of the Faculty of Advocates

Murray Stable member Alan Summers QC has been appointed as the new Treasurer of the Faculty of Advocates.
Alan, who has been chairman of Faculty Services Ltd since 2008, succeeds Alan Dewar QC, who served as Treasurer for four years.
Alan called to the Bar in 1994 and became a QC in 2008. He studied at Dundee and Oxford Universities and is regularly instructed in a wide range of cases including the law of contract, property, insolvency and fisheries. He has also appeared in a number of cases involving the European Convention on Human Rights and represented the UK Government in the Lockerbie appeal. Alan is the author of a number of legal articles and has been Special Advocate to the UK Government since 2007.
The Faculty Treasurer is the employer of all Faculty of Advocates staff and is in charge of Faculty finances, which includes income and expenditure, property and the maintenance of Faculty buildings. A significant part of the budget goes towards the upkeep of the Advocates Library.
Alan takes up this role alongside his existing practice and remains available for instructions.
