CITIZENSHIP FOUNDATION - BAR NATIONAL MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION
SATURDAY 10TH NOVEMBER 2007- GLASGOW HIGH COURT
Kirsty Malcolm and Gordon Watt, along with other recently admitted members of the Faculty of Advocates have been giving assistance to schools across Scotland in their preparation for the Mock Trial competition due to take place on Saturday 10th November in Glasgow High Court. The winning team at this regional heat will go on to represent the region in the National Final against the 15 other regional winners.
This annual event organised by the independent charity the Citizenship Foundation, has been taking place since 1991. In 2007 it will involve over 200 schools and nearly 3000 students across the United Kingdom. The students take on the roles of the lawyers, witnesses, court staff and jurors. The advocates provide assistance in the preparations and on the day itself. The competition provides a unique way for young people to learn about the criminal law, the criminal justice system and how the courts work.
