The Scottish Government have announced that John Mundy has been appointed by Her Majesty the Queen as an all-Scotland Floating Sheriff based in Arbroath. John will take up his appointment on Monday 18 April 2011.
John qualified as a solicitor in 1983 and called to the Bar in 1987. While at the Bar he has had a broad practice covering most areas of civil litigation in the Court of Session and Sheriff Court, as well as appearing before various other tribunals including the Lands Tribunal for Scotland and Scottish Land Court. In recent years an increasing amount of his time has been spent on family law, particularly financial provision on divorce and parent and child issues. In 2007 he was appointed to the Panel of Legal Assessors for both the General Medical Council and the Nursing & Midwifery Council and sat on their fitness to practise panels. In this role he dealt with issues surrounding professional discipline, clinical negligence and human rights. In 2009 John was appointed Chair of the Investigating Committee of the General Osteopathic Council.
Murray Stable pass on their collective congratulations to John and wish him well in his future role.
