NEWS: Scott Blair responds to further licensing law reform proposals
Posted On: 29 July 2008
Licensing counsel Scott Blair has been asked to join with leading licensing solicitors, John Batters and Janet Hood, to prepare a response to the June 2008 consultation paper from the Scottish Government entitled Changing Scotland's relationship with alcohol: a discussion paper on our strategic approach. This paper seeks views on further reforms to licensing law following upon the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005. It proposes a number of possible measures, including an increase in the age for the purchase of alcohol in off-sales premises to 21, the introduction of minimum pricing for alcohol and additional ways to curb irresponsible drinks promotions. Scott is taking part in his role as a member of the Law Society of Scotland Licensing Law Sub-Committee.
