Employment Law Group

graphic of people standing by a mazeThe Murray Stable has several specialist practitioners in the area of employment law at all levels of experience.

This Group is an integral part of the Murray Stable. It offers a broad range of expertise and knowledge in all aspects of employment law to solicitors and to Direct Access clients. In a fast-changing area of the law, the Group consists of advocates with an interest in employment law, some of whom only practise in this area and are at the cutting-edge of recent developments in legislation and case-law.

The Group's members are regularly instructed for both claimants and respondents and act on behalf of a wide range of clients including employers, trade unions, local authorities, charities, other public bodies and individual litigants. The Group's members are regularly instructed in employment tribunals across Scotland, in the EAT, in Sheriff Courts, and in the Court of Session.

What Services Does the Group Offer?

  • All members of the Group, as with all members of the stable, are available for instruction in tribunals and courts. It is unnecessary for an advocate to be accompanied to an employment tribunal by an instructing solicitor.
  • Group members may also be instructed in relation to advisory work such as providing Opinions.
  • Group members can be instructed to draft tribunal pleadings as well as to attend consultations.
  • Members of the Group are available for instruction through Direct Access, a new, more accessible and economical means of obtaining counsel's services. Details of current arrangements can be found at Direct Access
  • Regular publication of news and legal analysis free on this website.
  • The Group organises an annual seminar on issues of major topical interest.
  • We are pleased to make in-house visits to your firm or organisation or local faculty of solicitors to discuss your needs and the services that can be offered by the Group and its members.

Further information about all of these services may be obtained from the Practice Manager Iain Murray or one of his deputies Elaine Wilson or Erica Turnbull.
